Toney prepping for Shamrock by fighting with local gym members

If it were anyone else, we'd be shocked. But it's James Toney, so anything's possible. The former boxing world champion, holding on to the final shreds of his dignity, was recently booted from a local gym in Southern California.

Larry Brown Sports reports that Toney, who's "prepping" for a September fight against 47-year-old Ken Shamrock, is no longer welcome at 360 Health Club in Reseda, Ca.

The gym would not comment on the matter citing company policy, but they did confirm that Toney is no longer a member. We're told Toney made another member feel uncomfortable with a verbal and/or physical threat.

When asked what happened between him and 360, Toney told LBS "We had a disagreement with the managers. We had too much traffic coming in ? the wrong traffic." We did not press Toney for details on the specifics of the incident, but officials at 360 say the suggestion that bringing in "the wrong traffic" was not the issue.

UFC 138 Fight Card Adds Hathaway, Etim vs. Faaloloto, and Scanlon vs. Head

The UFC 138 fight card continues to fill up as England?s John Hathaway, Terry Etim, and Mark Scanlon have joined the November 5 event in Birmingham, with Etim returning to take on fellow lightweight Edward Faaloloto and Mark Scanlon welcoming James Head to the welterweight division.

The matchups were first reported by Fighters Only and YourMMA.

Hathaway (15-1) emerged as a welterweight contender with four-straight UFC wins over the likes of Rick Story, Paul Taylor, and Diego Sanchez. ?The Hitman? suffered the first setback of his career to Mike Pyle in October, but bounced back over Kris McCray in March.

Etim (14-3) has been sidelined by various injuries since an April 2010 loss to Rafael dos Anjos snapped a four-fight win streak, while Faaloloto (2-2) looks to avoid a likely release after dropping his UFC debut to Michael Johnson last month.

Both Scanlon (7-1) and Head (7-2) dropped their Octagon debuts, with Scanlon falling to Pascal Krauss in the ?Fight of the Night? at UFC 122 in November and Head losing to Nick Ring at UFC 131 in June, prompting his drop to 170-pounds.

UFC 138 is headlined by the UFC?s first five-round non-title fight between middleweights Chris Leben and Mark Munoz.

Nate Marquardt FIRED from UFC: Dana White?s SHOCKING REASONS

Former King of Pancrase and former UFC middleweight title contender Nate Marquardt had hoped to drop down to the welterweight division in the UFC to face Rick Story tomorrow night in the main event. Instead, Nate is the one who?s been dropped.

Less than one hour after the UFC officially announced that Marquardt has been scratched from Sunday?s UFC on Versus 4 main event, UFC president Dana White informed the world Marquardt also has been released from the organization. Dana White said ?I?m sure you heard that Nate Marquardt is out, it?s true. He failed his medicals. Not only is he out of this fight, out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC.?
Neither White nor Marquardt?s management team were immediately available for comment, but the announcement comes on the heels of a hectic afternoon after Marquardt ?did not receive medical clearance? and was pulled from a planned main-event bout with Rick Story. Charlie Brenneman was quickly slated as a last-minute replacement to face Story. The heavyweight bout between Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry was promoted to the evening?s featured slot, where in all honesty it should be anyway.

Strikeforce Grand Prix semifinals headed to Cincinnati

Strikeforce has decided on the location of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix semifinals. MMA Junkie reported that Josh Barnett vs. Sergei Kharitonov and Antonio Silva vs. Daniel Cormier will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The location is notable because Barnett, a fighter who has tested positive for steroids in the past, and will now fight under a state commission that, along with Nevada and New Jersey, is respected as one of the most thorough in country. Earlier this week, Ohio Athletic Commission head Bernie Profato told Cagewriter that extra requirements are expected of a fighter who has tested positive in the past.

"If anybody, I don't care who it is, if it's my brother, if they tested previous for drugs, they're going to have to take a pre-fight test," Profato said. "If I look at that database, and I see they've failed a test, then we're going to take a pre-fight test within 30 days of the fight."

They will be joined by a middleweight championship bout between Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Luke Rockhold, "King" Mo Lawal's return to action against Roger Gracie, Josh Thomson vs. Maximo Blanco, and Olympic silver medalist Yoel Romero's U.S. debut against Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante.

?UFC 138: Leben vs. Munoz? Fight Card Filling Up Fast

Less than 48 hours ago, a pivotal middleweight contest between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz was announced to headline UFC 138 in England. Fast forward roughly two days and the promotion has already added six other bouts to the card?s roster.

Thursday morning, a featherweight fight with Michihiro Okinawa and Jason Young was reported for the November 5th show. Considering both 145-pounders lost their last contests, it?s unlikely their bout will make it on the main card.

Okinawa dropped a highly controversial unanimous decision loss to Darren Elkins at UFC 131, which prompted UFC president Dana White to award Omigawa his win bonus despite the L.

Young suffered a unanimous decision defeat of his own to Dustin Poirier that same June evening. The loss wasn?t exactly how Young envisioned his Octagon debut going.

For North Americans, UFC 138 will be made available via same-day tape-delay on Spike TV (Rogers Sportsnet in Canada).

The LG Arena in Birmingham will host the UFC?s long-awaited return to England.
